Watching "The Muppet Christmas Carol", "Kermit's swamp Years", "John Denver and the muppet's Holiday"and "A Very Merry Muppet Christmas" this weekend with my friend has rekindeled my love in the Genuis of Jim.
Growing up with them and still being able to enjoy them is something not alot of entertainment can do.
My all time favorite muppet is Gonzo. However never really liked "Muppets From Space." Beside it being the first Muppet movie that wasn't written by Jerry Juhl (LONG time muppet writer) and besides not having a song sung by the muppets (Well, not really), I think the biggest let down was that they revealed what Gonzo was. The entire history of him being a "whatever", I think, was a part of his charm. He's weird, crazy, totally abnormal, and a slight masocist and I love him. ;D
One of the saddest, deepest moments in Muppet history, is Gonzo's solo in "The Muppet Movie", "Going to go back there someday." It did foreshadow "Muppet from Space" as he sang the song, looking to the stars, but I think "MFS" could have been sooo much better. Even "Muppet Treasure Island" could have been a bit better, but I did enjoy it more then "Muppets from Space". I'm not sure if Jerry Juhl wrote that one. I don't think he did.
Anyways, my favorite Muppetmovies are "The Muppet Movie," "Muppets take Manhattan", "The Great Muppet caper" and "The Muppet's Christmas Carol."
"TMCC" might be my first favorite. The Rizzo/Gonzo scene are great and this telling of Dickens classic is probably the closest to the book then any other. A good deal of that comes from Gonzo protraying Dickens and actually narrorating and speaking the prose in bits of the story.
I also have a crush on Steve Whitmire who plays Rizzo the Rat, Wembly (from "Fraggel Rock")Bean Bunny (The "anti-muppet", too sappy, cute, and obnoxiously adorable for any of the other muppets to really like him. "He's the victim" as Steve says), and others including Kermit, since the passing of Jim Henson in 1990.
I have no idea why. I mean he is kinda attractive... Maybe it's because he's the only guy I know who has golden blonde hair down to his butt (circa "Kermit's Swamp Years") and it looks Great. He has such pretty hair.. I wanna braid it. Lol.
Ask my anything about the Muppets, Jim Henson's creatations, whatever. I can garentee you an answer or your money back!

I got "Muppet Tresure Island" on DVD for 12 bucks! At Best Buy of all places! It was the last one too. I'm getting Muppet From Space off ebay for 8 so that's even cooler. (They've got commentary with Rizzo Gonzo and... Kermit maybe.) (I can't remember) MTI had menus like MCC with Kermit and man were they funny! I love Gonzo and Rizzo. Whew... And pretty Steve Whitmire with his pretty hair... Although I think I liked it best in Kermit's Swamp Years behind the scenes. So long, very gold looking from being out in the sun.. I bet he was hot. He never pulled it up anymore then a loose ponytail... Man I wanna braid his hair and do pretty things with it... ... Yeah... I've got "Jim Henson: The Works" by Christopher Finch andI'm starting to read that. I've had it for a while and used it for a reasearch paper, but didn't read all of it. In other news, rumor is they're making a "Wizard of Oz" muppet movie. Piggy will be playing Glinda and The Wicked Witch of the West. Kermit as the ScareCrow, Fozzie as the Lion, Gonzo as the Tin Man and Pepe as Toto. Nataile Portman is rumored to be Dorothy, but no confirmations yet. But where fore art thou, Rizzo?! He should be Gonzo's oil can!! Rizzo: "Squeak-squeak." Gonzo: "What are you doing? Why did you squeak?" Rizzo: "I'm an oil can." Gonzo: "Oil cans don't go 'Squeak-squeak'. I do. You're suppose to go 'drip-drip'." Rizzo: "Trust me, you don't want me doin' that on ya."

I *think* it's going to be for ABC. PRetty sure. Anyways, with what they did with MCC and MTI this should be good. Of course those where written by Jerry Juhl and directed by Brian Henson so, really with the WoOz thing, who knows...

Well, The Muppets aren't entirely kid-oriented. Alot of people think that since they've done Muppet Babies and Sesame Street. Even the Muppet show wasn't aimed toward kids, but it was a family show. Check out this lil clip from 79 of Jim Henson and Frank Oz on the Mike Douglas Show! www.themikedouglasshow.com/multimedia.htm

dude lol you might like to know that, when given the assignment in computers to make a Power Point presentation about a celbrity or famous group, my friend andrea and I (we were partners) broke away from the obvious movie stars and music groups and did an entire presentation on the muppets!! it was great!
Gonzo's one of my favourites too... lol during our research we discovered that his hobby was "tapdancing on tapico while balancing a piano on his nose, blindfolded, ten times fast" or something to that effect, and I was like "dude! he rocks!"... and kermit is a great fave of mine, cause when i was just a bitty lynsey, I had a kermit stuffed toy that i was never without... so i love him quite much!
newho, i just thought, oooh! muppet thread! I should share my muppet experience... but the only muppet movie i've seen is muppet treasure island... and i couldn't even finish it cause i had to go home! so i'll have to rent the other muppet movies and check them out lol...

Or better yet, buy them! Yes they're that good. I'm trying to get my hands on The Bunny Picnic, which is Bean Bunny's first apperence in this lil special and some Fraggel Rock stuff. Unfortunatly I've run out of money and Bunny Picnic always gets up to about 20 before it gets bought!

I saw tht this morning too.
Anyways, I think now, since AVMCM wasn't all that great and really, neither was MFS (I mean they're no TMM or MTM or MCC) but other then that I mean, I think it's nessecarry right now. The Disney company hopefully will give the Muppets the light they deserve. ..And hopefully a longer airing TV show then "Mupets Tonight"
Brian Henson, who with his sister Lisa is co-chair and co-chief executive officer of The Jim Henson Company, said, "This new and very important relationship will enable our two companies to combine our respective talents and resources in ways that will fully realize the tremendous potential of the Muppet and Bear franchises. Michael Eisner's long-standing passion and respect for the Muppets gives me and my family even more confidence in Disney as a partner."
Lisa Henson said, "In the months before his death in 1990, my father Jim Henson pursued extensive discussions with The Walt Disney Company based on his strong belief that Disney would be a perfect home for the Muppets. As such, the deal we announced today is the realization of my father's dream, and ensures that the Muppet characters will live, flourish and continue to delight audiences everywhere, forever. My brothers and sisters -- Brian, Cheryl, John, Heather -- and I are so proud to have the Muppets living under the same roof as Walt Disney's own timeless characters. We could not possibly be more pleased."
"Since the time I worked with Jim Henson on the first Muppets TV special in the 1960s, it was obvious to me that his characters would make a deep imprint on the hearts of families worldwide, and this announcement is the culmination of a long-time desire to welcome them into The Walt Disney Company," said Michael Eisner, Disney chairman and chief executive officer.
"Kermit and Miss Piggy are well-known and beloved around the world and will have an opportunity to be seen and loved by millions more well into the future through Disney's distribution channels at home and abroad, including home video, family television programming and consumer products, in addition to the existing theme park presence at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. We are honored that the Henson family has agreed to pass on to us the stewardship of these cherished assets. We are also pleased that this transaction puts us in a position to work with the Henson company on future projects," Mr. Eisner said.
So, if the kids are happy, I'm happy.
And Brian looks good with long hair. Or at least he did back when filming MTI.

Dunno. I mean there wasn't before in the first deal. But they did put in the Muppet Vision thing in MGM studios, so they sorta maybe so. Maybe an add on? Dunno.
