Dinner was finished, and everyone sat quietly at the table. Faith's arm looped through Jack's.
"I got something!" Jack said suddenly, causing most of them to jump.
"Well, what is it Jack?" Faith asked.
"She's got to fight against me, you, and Indy," Jack said.
"Now that's no fair! Three agianst one!" Sam cried.
"If you want to get on Indy's ship, then that's what you'll have to do!" Faith snapped.

"No, no, no. She's just a child. And even I wouldn't do that to her." Indy said shaking her head.
"Do what to her?" Gonzo asked.
"I only fight when I have to and I don't leave any man--or woman--alive." She nodded and gulp her drink. John gazed at her, throughly impressed. Rizzo eyed John suspisiously. "So you make your decision, Jack. Leave the capitian out." She smiled, "Besides I gave you the decision so I wouldn't have to make one!"
John laughed, a little too loudly for Rizzo and Gonzo's liking, although they did find it funny as well.

"Throw that idea out the window," Jack muttered.
"There's got to be something challenging that she can do that doesn't involve her getting hurt," Faith said.
"We coud--no...that wouldn't work," Jack said.
"What wouldn't work?" Faith asked.
"I was going to say that we could strand her on an island and she has to get off and find my ship in three days," Jack said, "But that's kinda harsh."

Samantha's eyes widend. She didn't want to be stranded, or fight anyone. She had never used a sword in her life. But thank God that the idea was out the window.
"It is harsh" Samantha piped up.
"You shut yer mouth!" Faith snapped.
Samantha sank back into her seat.

Indy scoffed, laughing a little, "Jack, we don't wanna kill her... Not yet anyway." She smiled andtook another si of her drink.
"Oh, come now, Samantha, I'm sure she's just teasin' ya." John said to Sam, seeing how uncomfortable she was getting. Indy looked over to John and he looked down, "Pardon me, Cap'n. T'wasn't my place."

All this talk of killing and stranding and fighting was scaring Samantha half to death. Her face was going pale, but no one besides Cat seemed to care.
Her breathing grew short, partially from fright, but mostly from the corset she's always forced to wear. She looked around and saw everyone laughing and talking, but heard no sound. Without warning, she passed out onto the floor.

Faith laughed at something Jack had said and then saw Sam drop to the floor, "Looked like we scared her."
"Yeah," Jack agreed. He took another sip of his drink.
"Are you beleavin 'er there?" Cat asked.
"Maybe," Faith said, "She can recover, it was just from fright, but it's what she gets for hangin with pirates."

(Rarrr... Indy unhappy! I had this LONG post up here, and then what happens? I gte logged out. Stupid school!! So now I must type is alllll over. Which I REALLY don't wanna... *sigh*))
Indy dismissed her crew and had Jack carry Samantha to the Inn. Jim, Rizzo and gonzo went back into their bunk roomiin the tavern. When everyone had gone, Long John lingered behind and noticed Indy leaning on the dinner table thinking to her self. She was staring at her hand.
"Cap'n?"
"Hmm?" She looked up, "Oh, John. Sorry, I didn't know you had stayed."
"Something bothering you?"
"No. Just thinking about tomorrow I do need a few more crew men."
"You do? Oh, well, I know of some men that would be happy to sail under your flag, miss."
"I find that surprising."
"I don't believe in silly supersitions. And any god who doesn't like women is no god at all in my book." John smiled a bit.
Indy smiled back, "Thank you, John."
"Well, Cap'n, I best be off too, then..." John turned, then stopped, as if debating something.
"John?" Indy asked, "Is there something else?"
He turned, with a conflicted look, "Yes.. Would.. Oh, this is silly. I'm just a cookand you're..." He sighed, and swallowed. "Cap'n, if it's not much trouble to you, would you have dinner with me? Tomrrow night, I was thinking, but whenever is best for you is fine. I'll cook, of course." He shrugged.
"Dinner?" She looked shocked.
John shook his head and turned to go, "I'm sorry cap'n. It was much to bold of me to ask. I should have known not to ask someone of your repute. I understa--"
"John?"
He turned, hopefully, his right hand gripping tightly on his crutch. "Yes, Cap'n?"
"What would you be serving?"
"Lobster.. Crab, pork, whatever you'd like." He smiled, briefly.
"Lobster is fine." Indy smiled; John grinned.
"Tomorrow night then?" He walked to her a bit.
She nodded and felt herself blushing a little, "Yes."
"Capn, I promise you a wonderful evening," He took her hand and kissed it, "That I do." HE let go and began walkign away again, backwards.
"Indy." She said.
He nodded, grinning, "Indy, it is. Good night... Indy." He waved from the door way.
"Goodnight, John." She smiled and he walked out.
Indy looked down at her hand, the wedding ring glinting off the candle light. Roy. Well, he was still in Amercia, wasn't he? Doing God knows what with God knowswho now. She thought. Indy slid the ring off her finger and tucked it away in her pocket.
"Wow, did you see dat?" Rizzo whispered as Indy left.
"Huh, what?" Gonzo rubbed his eyes. He was rather tired.
"Long John just asked Indy out on a date and she said YES!" Rizzo exclaimed.
"What?!" Jim and Gonzo said at once.
"Yeah, I know. Wicked plot twist, huh? The capitan and the shadowy cook?"
"Well, I wouldn't say wicked."Gonzo shrugged, "Happens a bit..."
"I don't think he's shadowy. John's not that bad? You saw the humility he went through just askign her?" Jim said.
"Jim, shadowy characters are never good." Gonzo said walking back to his bed.
"Well, hey, Srider in Lord of Da Rings turned out okay." Rizzo argued.
"No, no, he was mysterious. Not shadowy." Gonzo explained and then yawned. Jim and Rizzo yawned in unison, then climbed to their own beds.
"Oh. Well, we still outta tell Jack." Rizzo srugged.
"And be string up by our thumbs? Or dragged along the bottom of the boat for spyin on Indy?" Jim asked incredulously.
"He told us to." Rizzo said.
"You think she would really do that? Cool." Gonzo said whistfully.
Jim ignored Gonzo, "No, he told us to keep an eye on John."
"Well, we were. Indy just 'appened ta be dere!" Rizzo exclaimed.
"I wonder if the ships set long enough for barnacles to grow on the bottom yet."
"Gonzo!"
"What?!"
"Let's just go to bed, guys, alright? No telling Jack what we saw!" Jim replied with a finality no one expected.
"Why not?" Was Rizzo's meek question.
"Because, Rizzo," Jim spoke with a kind of pateince now, annoyed somewhat, but patience no the less, "if we tell Jack, he'll have John's head. And if John gets killed, Indy will undoubtly trace the whole mess back to us. And then we'll be dead."
"Oh.. Good reason. Let's not tell Jack then."
"Alright. Gonzo?" Jim heard the blue creature snore softly. "Gonzo?"
"Huh?"
"We don't tell JAck."
"Okay, okay. Dont wanna die, right." Gonzo nodded and fell quickly back to sleep.

Samantha was carried to the inn and laid on a bed. It as a few minutes before she started to stir. She opened her eyes and saw a dark room. She was alone. Jack had left and went somewhere with Faith.
SHe sat up on the bed and looked around. It smelled musty, but still, she didn't want to get up.

Sam nodded and felt her face which was warm and red. Her cheeks felt like they were on fire. She layed down again and tried to sleep, but between the butterflies, which had now turned to eagles in her stomach, and the musty smell of the bed, shhe concluded that she would never be able to sleep there.

Jack was lying on the bed, his hands under his head, starring at the celling while Faith was sitting next to him, reading a book.
"Why'd they name you Faith?" Jack asked suddenly.
"What?" Faith looked up from her book.
"Why did your parents name you Faith?" Jack asked agian.
"I'm not really sure, they liked the name I guess," Faith said.
"Well Mrs. Sparrow," Jack said, proping himself up on one arm, "If we have a girl, what would you name her?"
"Me? I'd name her Hannah," Faith said.
"Hannah?" Jack asked.
"Yeah, it's always been one of my favorite names, and when I was little, I had a sister whose name was hannah...She died when she was around two months," Faith said.
"Was it hard on you love?" Jack asked quietly.
"One of the hardest points in my life..I was ten and I had lost my little sister to the French," Faith said, "I've never forgiven the people who did it to her, and I swear on pain of death, that if I find them, I'll avenge my sister."

Samantha stood up without thinking and walked to where she heard talking, and she heard:
"Was it hard on you love?" Jack asked quietly.
"One of the hardest points in my life..I was ten and I had lost my little sister to the French," Faith said, "I've never forgiven the people who did it to her, and I swear on pain of death, that if I find them, I'll avenge my sister."
Samantha drew in a sharp breath. She knew another reason why Faith hated her, she remebered the little girl her father killed. Her father's troups killed Faith's sister.

"It's ok Faith," Jack said, stroking her hair softly, "Just let it all out."
Faith sobbed into Jack's chest, "She didn't even live for a year Jack! And they killed her! they killed her!"
Jack rocked his wife gently, "If and when we have a girl, we'll name her Hannah, alright?"
Faith sniffed and nodded her head. They stayed like that until Jack felt Faith's breathing slow and her grip get looser. He laid down on the bed and fell asleep, Faith sequrely in his arms.

Samantha remebered the day clearly. She was probably six or seven, and she was on a trip with her father...
Samantha rode in the carriage with her father, and troups were lined up behind them. A big band of people passed them. Being only six or seven Samantha had a short attention spand, and was falling asleep from boredom, but a sudden jolt wakend her.
"Oi, you there." Her father called out the window. The band of people she saw before stopped. The all turned to face her father as he stepped out of the carraige.
"Where is the money you owe me?" her father asked.
A man, who Samantha presumed to be the father, stepped out of the center of the clustre. "My' Lord..I-I-I don't have it..I pr-"
"You told me you would 'ave to me a month ago, but 'ave you delivered it yet? No! I've given you long enough."
The man fell to his knees, he was carrying a small child. "Please, I almost have all of it please..give me a few more weeks."
Samantha felt bad for this man, and his whole family. They were grimey and their hair started to dread.
There were more voices, but they were blurred. Samantha couldn't remember them. She heard a gun being taken out, and she put her head inside the carraige again and closed her eyes so tightly, she thought that they would be unable to open again.
Only moments after she heard the gun beingpulled out, she heard a shot. There was screaming and crying. Her father stepped back into the carriage and told the driver to go fast. She put her head back out the window and saw blood, lots of blood, she heard crying and yelling.
As they were driving away, there was a girl not much older than she, and she was staring at her. Hate was in her eyes. Vengence and murder was wriiten on her face. Samantha couldn't stop looking at her, she watched her shrink into the distance as they drove away.
That was all she remembered.
But that girl, the girl that was staring at her, was Faith.

"Why did they kill her?" Jack asked.
"Because my father didn't pay the rent money," Faith said.
"Do you know who they were?" Jack questioned.
"No, but that Sam girl looks like the little girl that was there, I had glared at her, and she looked sad, almost sympathetic, that's the same look Sam gives sometimes," Faith said.
"Do you want to go and ask her?" Jack stood up and walked over to Faith, placing a hand on her shaking shoulder.
"I do," Faith said. She stood up and walked out of the room and downstairs where she found sam.
"You were that little girl with that man when he killed my sister, weren't you?" Faith questioned harshly.

Samantha was shocked. But she nodded.
Her eyes were filling with tears. "I was. I tried to tell him not to..he wouldn't listen to me! My father is such a horibble man. I'm so sorry for all the pain he ever caused you!"
Samantha choked out. Tears were faling freely now and she didn't want to stop them.

"Cat!" Indy called out but didn't move to stop her, she was already out the door. Oh well, it would be better for her to let it out anyway. And she always did like to see Faith get riled up. If that owuld happen. Indy walked out with her arms crossed over her chest and stood at the doorway
Oh my. Faith had her crying already.
