"Well," Indy sat back down, thinking, "Do you have any ideas?"
She could turn this in her favor, but mostly this was for the good of the girl in front of her, right? Of course. She was begining to like Samnatha anyways. After all, she had never told that story to anyoneelse on her crew before. Jack and Faith already knew it, but even with her crews before this one, she had never told that story. And it had happened ten years ago.

Samantha shrugged.
"No, I haven't. I was hoping you had some ideas."
As soon as Samantha said that, she wanted to take the words back. They betrayed her and made her sound stupid.

"Samantha..." Indy said in a little disappointed tone, take a swig, "Samantha. I'm the captian of this entire ship. I have a whole crew to look after, I don't exactly have time to give out indiviual punishments and orders unless they're terribly important. The fact that you want me to says something. So just do what I say and obey Jack and Faith." She paused, thinking. "And when we do arrive on land, don't speak to anyone about us unless we letyou. And we most likely won't, alright?"
She noticed Samantha's expression change. "It's not that I don't trust you... Well, not completely anyway. But Jack, Faith and I aren't usually wanted around, if you get my saying. So really, same goes for all the crew. Everyone of you are considered Pirates now even if you aren't marked for it." Indy showed her wrist to Sam, revealing a brand of a P burned into it. "So it'd be wise to just not say anything."

Samantha's eyes grew wide and she stood up.
"Well..I should uh..go" she said as she walked into the door.
"Um..sorry about the wine I spilled." she said as she clumsily walked out of the room.

"Samantha!" Indy barked before sheclosed the door. Samantha turned, hoping she hadn't done the wrong thing. "If you want me to began trusting you, you could start by giving me a good reason why I should, alright? And don't ever listen to me when I'm drinking I'm liable to say anything and make up things out of my own head." Iny waved the girl away and took another swig. It was almost noon and she had finished off a bottle already. She'd drink half of this one and stop, she told herself.

Samantha closed the door quickly and walked away. She walked to the edge of the ship and stared out at the ocean.
After a few minutes of looking out, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She spun around. I was Sean.
"Oh. Hello." she said.
Sean smiled at her. "I saw what you did Samantha." he said with a wiry smile. When she looked confused Sean said
"With the bottle. You spilled it."
Samantha turned a shade of scarlett. Sean put a hand on Sam's cheek.
"Don't be ebmarressed." he said. He lifted her chin and kissed her.

Indy sighed, looking at the closed door. She finished drinking half the bottle she had, then tok the empty one threw it against the wall. The bottle shattered. Jack stood outside the door and cringed as he heard it. He thought of opening the door, but Indy had done so before he could.
"I'm sorry, Indy. I don't know what I was thinking." JAck sighed, "If you really don't want to go we don't have to. I mean it is your ship--"
"No, we'll go. Besides he's probably dead by now anyway. No one's heard anything about him for ten years." Indy said, looking to Jack with that indifferent looks she always got when thinking about him. Jack hated it. He hated seeing his sister hurt and hurting for so long when there wasn't anything he could do about it.
"It's only a few days away. I wish you could forget about him." Jack said.
"I wish I could too." Indy walked away, back to her cabin.

Samantha blushed and smiled as Sean pulled away.
"Is anything wrong?" he asked her.
She shook her head. "No, if anything, it might be the best thing that's ever happend to me."
Sean smiled and kissed Samantha again, but soon pulled away as he heard a bottle crash and shatter.

Jack began to follow her, but Faith stopped him, walking up to him.
"She needs to be alone."
Jack nodded then walked back to the wheel of the ship, taking the helm from Fozzie.

Indy took a deep breath taking the handkerchief from her pocket and wiping at her smeared eyeliner. She threw it on he bedside table and yanked off the wedding ring from her fringer. She tossed it the jewelery box. She never really loved half the men she married. She thought she did, or let them think so. But she could never let go of him. The first man she ever loved. It was her fault. If only she had told the truth, if only she didn't hide it from him, maybe he would have forgiven her. But it was too late now.

"I have to go." she said.
She walked to her room and lay on her bed.

((Lyrics by 3 doors down, except for the ones I change so it'd go with the time and poem-like quailty... yo.))
There is another world inside of me That you may never see There are secrets in this life That I can't hide Somewhere in this darkness There's a light that I cannot find Maybe it's too far away Maybe I'm just blind.
I hope you may forgive me My own forgivenness has no end For my betrayal was far greater then yours could have ever been. Roaming through this darkness I'm alive but I'm alone Part of me is fighting this And part of me is gone
So please hold me when I'm here Love me when I'm wrong Hold me when I'm scared And love me while I'm gone Everything I am And everything you need I'll prove to be the one You wanted me to be I know I let you down but, even if I could I'd give up everything If only for your good So hold me when I'm here Love me when I'm wrong You can hold me when I'm scared You won't always be there So love me while I'm gone
The dark haired man considered the poem for a few moments before setting it back on top of the papers he had found it under. He knew his friend, the writer of it, had always been troubled with something. He always assumed it was a woman that made the writer drink alone and stay down stairs at the tavern with him. The reader was, after all, a aspiring preist and would never take up company with the wenchs taverns, but that is not to say he was entirely chaste.
At any rate, the dark haied man who had just finished reading his friend's poem would often sit with his fair-haired friend in the tavern silently, drinking with him. His friend would never even notice his company, until he would decide to stop and tell him it was time they headed home. Should he say something about the poem?
"Did you find it?" The said fair-haired man asked as he opened the door to his apartment. He carried two bottles of wine with him and appeared to be in brighter moods then he had been the previous night, lost in the bottom of a bottle and his own memories.
"No, I must have left it at--"
Before the dark hair hopeful churchman could finish, the name of the man he was about to udder, brust in, nearly making their friend spill the wine he was setting on the table. He had dark hair as well, a robust charm and bandana around his head. He to had wine and appeared in his usually uplifting mood. He noticed the wine on the table.
"No, we're not drinking that! I've brought possibly the most expensive chambert in all of Parisfor this occasion!" He closed the door behind him.
The blond man gave him an questioning look, "And what occasion is that?"
"What other occasion is there? For the simple reason of getting drunk until we forget our own names." The exuberant gentleman smiled proudly and set the wine on the table, then carefully moved the other bottles away from his. "Or to celebrate our young friend's return from America."
"But that isn't for another three days." The otherdark-haired man said, leaning against the desk.
"All the more reason. We get drunk now and wake up just in time to meet him in port."
"Sounds like a plan to me." The blond smiled and moved into the kitchen area for glasses. The theologist and better poet followed to help him. They came back with the glasses and their friend was now where the hopeful preist had been.
"Did you write this? IT's rather good. And quite dark. Is--"
"Write what?" The fair man tried pretending he did not care if his friend looked at the papers, but the other two could tell he was very worried.
"Oh.. Nothing. Just--"
"No, what is it? Read it to me." He commanded more then asked.
his friend did, reading only the first line before being cut off by the writer.
"What did you think of it?"
"I told you not one minute--"
"What about you, did you read it as well? Is that how it migrated from the bottom of the pile to the top?" The blond directed to his other friend. The friend said nothing for a moment.
"Yes, I read it. I'm sorry, I didn't know it was private."
"Perhaps you shouldask next time, then. I will see you two in three days time. I'll expect you at noon." The offendedman opened his door for them.
"Oh--" The second reader rolled his eyes and began picking up the bottles he had bought with him. The other stopped him.
"No," He said looking to the blond, "He needs that more then we do at the moment. You read the poem. In three days, then." He nodded and left, a little angry that he as being kicked out, but more fustrated his friend refused to talk about the subject matter of the poem.
The two dismissed friends then left for a local tavern, the third friend drank alone.

Samantha thought of something, and stood up. She walked to Indy's room and knocked on the door.
"Captain?" she asked quietly "I've thought of something that I could do."

Indy's concentration broke, the knock on the door caught her off guard and she nearly yelped. She sighed and walked to the door, forgetting she had a ring on her finger, one she had put on, only planning on wearing it for a few moments. "Sorry, what?" "I said I may have thought of something. For me to do here." "Oh." Indy opened the door and let her in, then closed it. She walked to her jewelry box and shut it quickly, then guestured to a chair beside the desk it sat on. "Have a seat. What have you thought of?"

Samantha looked at her hands and then at Indy.
"Well, what if I clean the ship..the cabins I mean."
Indy didn't do anything. She was thinking it over.
Samantha nodded and stood up. "Well, uh, I had just thought of it and I didn't really think it over..so just um..tell me if it was bad."

"No, that's a fine idea, Sam." Indy said, still distracted and in a meloncholy state of mind. "Start when ever you like. In fact you can start with my cabin. Just make sure you clean and don't go snooping for things, alright?" Indy glanced to her jewelry box, then started to the door. "The cleaning supplies are in storage, where the wine is. I'm going to speak with John for a moment, Sam. I'll be back later on."
Indy left, givinthe girl a weak fleeting smile and walked to the kitchen. "John can I speak with you a moment?"
"Of course." HE smiled and straighten up then his smile faded, "Im sorry for Jack upsetting you like he did."
"How did you know about that?"
"Well, we all heard it Captian. There was a bit of yelling." John shrugged.
Indy nodded then opened the door and motioned for him to follow her, glancing at Gonzo, Jim and Rizzo who were putting plates away.
"Jon, I want to talk to you about last night..." She began.
John looked worried, "You alright, Captian--Uh, Indy, I mean."
She shook her head, "Not really... John, I did have a wonderful time last night and I think you're a very nice and caring and wonderful person, but.. I don't think we can do it again."
"You said that me being a cook didn't matter."
"It doesn't. It's not you, or your posistion. It's me. I'd belying to you if I continued with this relationship, so I think we should put an end to it before it even starts." Indy looked down and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry." She glanced up at him and walked away.
John stood in front of the kitchen, shocked, then narrowed his eyes watching her leave. He limped back into the kitchen, setting the boys to work again.

Samantha went to the wine cellar thing and got the cleaning supplies and began to clean Indy's room.
She dusted, she made the bed, she put everything in order, and was about to leave when a sparkle caught her eye. She put the cleaning things down on the bed and saw a jewelery box. Being the curious girl she was, she opened it.
When she had opened the box fully, she saw the most beautiful ring she had ever seen. After gawking at it for a while, she picked it up and slipped it on her finger. She held her hand at a distance and smiled, but her smile was soon disrupted when she heard foot steps. She brought her hand down quickly in fright, and heard a little tink on the ground.
She winced and looked down. It was the jewel. It had fallen off. Not knowing what to do, she put the jewel back on, and hoped it would stay on, and put it gingerly back in the box and closed it.
Samantha bit her finger and looked at the box for a second, not knowing whether or not to tell Indy.
"No," she thought "She hates me enough as it is."
She opened the box slowly, and looked at the ring again. The jewel looked like it was stuck on again and she closed the box fast, gathered her things and went into a far far away room and hoped the jewel would stay on, if Indy had happened to put it on any time soon.

Indy walked back into her room. Sam had done a pretty good job, she thought. She walked to her bed and sat down, sighing. What was she thinking letting Jack take them to Paris? She looked at the clock beside her jewelry box on the desk by her bed. It was almost 3 o'clock. Where had the day gone?
Her blue eyes moved past the clock noticing the latch of the box was down. It was an old box and had rusted over time slightly so that you had to move the latch in place for it to close. It wouldn't have swung shut by itself.
Indy jumped off her bed and opened the box. The sapphire ring was on top, placed in one of her necklaces as if on display, although in the side of the box. She had droped it in when she ripped it off her finger. Indy picke up the ring, glancing to the door, then back to the ring, noticing the stone shaking with her own hand. She turned the ring over. The sapphire fell into her hand.
The door swung open so quickly it hit the wall and Indy tore out of the cabin like a bat out of hell. "SAMANTHA!"

Samantha heard Indy's scream and fled to a cabin all the way on the other side of the ship. She pretended to clean a room acting as if she didn't hear the scream.
As Indy came closer, Samantha could hear her footsteps. The duster began to shake in her hand and she was nearly taken over by tears. She remained calm and continued to try to clean as Indy slammed the door open.

"Sam!" Indy glared coldy at the girl dusting. HEr back was to the captian. SuddenlyIndy felt a hand on her shoulder and whipped around.
Jack looked surprised. "Indy, what's all this yelling about?"
Indy opened her hand, revealing her ring. "She broke it, Jack. I trusted her and that no good girl went in my jewelry box and demolished my ring!"
JAck remained calm, takingthe pieces of the ring up. "She didn't demolish it. The stone merely fell out. Did you do this Sam?" He asked. He was a little angry, but not nearly as upset as his sister.
"I told her not to poke around my room." Indy spoke quietly.
Jack spoke in the same quite tone to her, "I thought you got rid of this."
"What makes you think I would?"
"You never wear it anymore."
"You would always get mad when I did, so I stopped. Perhaps I should continue to wear it, to keep it from being broken... or stolen."

Samantha didn't look at Indy or Jack. She looked down and still had her back turned to them. She was silently crying. She didn't know what to do.
"I'm sorry." she said quietly, barely louder that a pin drop. As soon as she said it, the tears consumed her, and she began sobbing.
"Just drop me off at the nearest port if you want." she said "Or better yet, just throw me off the ship. You don't even want me on here." she said turning to look at Indy.
But she couldn't look her in the eye so she stood up and looked at Jack instead. He seemed somewhat nicer than Indy right now.
